Spinners, weavers return to fair

Hill and Hollow Spinners and Weavers will be demonstrating the fiber arts processes of carding, making roving, spinning, plying, weaving and knitting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, and Thursday, Aug. 10, in the Farm Museum at the Huntingdon County Fair.

Stop in at the Farm Museum at the Huntingdon County Fair to see the Hill and Hollow Spinners and Weavers. Once again they will be demonstrating the fiber arts processes of carding, making roving, spinning, plying, weaving and knitting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, and Thursday, Aug. 10. Get hands-on experience with natural wool from various breeds of sheep raised on their farms. See how this wool is transformed to yarn and made into finished products.

Traditional weaving will be done on a table loom and the yarn for it will be made on different styles of spinning wheels.

The group has monthly meetings with topics including natural dying, show & tell, and members recently learned how to do Lucet Braiding.
